Behind the Batter

Love at First Bite

It's a known fact that that the way to someone's heart is through Brownies. That's why we gathered up a bunch of red, white and pink goodies and created these oh-so-lovely Valentine's Day treats!

 Are you swooning yet?

Let's start with the totally adorable jelly-bean X's and O's. There are a million different VDay inspired toppings out there to choose from so there's no reason to limit yourself to jelly-beans. I happened to be at T.J. Maxx and spotted these while standing on the checkout line. They are the Valentine's mix from Jelly-Belly and cost $3.99 (at T.J. Maxx). Can we take a moment to discuss how much I love T.J. Maxx?  Okay, moment over.

  • Cut Brownies into quarters (you can also use a heart cookie-cutter to change things up).
  • Melt chocolate in double boiler or according to directions on package.

  • Place jelly-beans in desired X and O pattern

If you prefer fresh fruit with your chocolate, these strawberry topped Brownies are guaranteed to make any heart go pitter-patter. They are simple to make and you'll feel good about the kids snacking on berries as you go.
